Trauma Informed Therapy

Have you experienced or been exposed to a traumatic situation? Are you struggling in your daily life as a result of the trauma experience?

The following are some of the most common difficulties faced by trauma survivors:

  • You are having recurring, distressing memories (flashbacks) or nightmares about the trauma
  • You feel anxious, fearful or guarded most of the time
  • You are escaping into compulsive, self-destructive or addictive behaviors such as substance abuse, eating disorders, self-injury or sexually compulsive behaviors
  • You are hiding your feelings, have difficulty experiencing positive emotions or feel emotionally numb
  • You are having severe emotional or physical reactions to something that reminds you of the trauma (triggers)
  • You are having difficulty maintaining relationships due to irritability, angry outbursts, mistrust, pulling away from others or overreliance on others
  • You are experiencing significant memory problems, find yourself spacing out and have difficulty staying focused on the present
  • You are having problems at work or school due to sleepless nights, difficulty concentrating or fears about leaving the house
  • You are struggling with low self-esteem and crave the acceptance of others
  • You are feeling a complete lack of interest in activities that you once enjoyed

If you or your loved one is experiencing one or more of these difficulties, Trauma Informed Collaborative Therapy can help.

Trauma Informed Collaborative Therapy focuses on improving the quality of your daily functioning while developing new skills necessary to work through the impact and consequences of the trauma. Working collaboratively, with Dr. Stulberg, You learn the tools necessary to reduce the current problems and symptoms and to live a life worth living.

When the trauma that you have experienced affects how you live your daily life, Trauma Informed Collaborative Therapy is here to help.

I don’t want to talk about IT!

As a trauma informed collaborative therapist I understand and respect these words. Many trauma focused and trauma centered approaches emphasize explicit memories of the traumatic events. These types of treatments use various techniques to help you process your traumatic experience. However, as many of you have shared, talking about these traumatic events so early in therapy actually makes your anxiety, distress and daily life struggles worse.

In Trauma Informed Collaborative Therapy, you are the expert in your own journey. You are empowered to educate me about your concerns and needs in your everyday life. Working collaboratively, we can help you feel safe and learn skills to handle the symptoms, cope effectively and improve the quality of your daily life.  Mastering these abilities then allows you the possibility to confront the traumatic experiences in a manner that is both productive and manageable rather than overpowering.

Interested in exploring a life worth living? I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you towards a future filled with possibilities.
